Omsk Plant “Etalon” is a federal unitary state enterprise of Gosstandart (State Standard Organisation) of Russia. It specialises in the development and production of reference and technical means of temperature measurement and of metrologic equipment for their calibration testing.

The plant has its own design bureau, scientific research department, metrologic service, marketing service and other structures that gives opportunity to carry out independent developments on the modern engineering level, to manufacture high-quality and reliable products.

The plant is a constant member of the Temperature Commission of Gosstandard of Russia. It has constant relations with leading metrologic institutes, scientific research institutes of different branches of industry and design organisations. All this promotes the improvement of existing technologies, the implementation of new ones including conversion materials and unique equipment.

Thanks to high qualification of developers and manufactures and to high engineering level of products the plant certified the quality system in conformity with international standards ISO 9000 and standards GOST R.

The production of radio engineering means of measurement and measures of short length of micron range used in electronic and optical industry was the main specialisation of the plant till 1991. Then after structural reconstruction the plant started to manufacture thermal engineering means of measurement.

From 1991 till the present time the plant has developed and put into serial production more than 120 types of temperature sensors, more that 7000 modifications, including explosion-proof types with unified output signals, pair resistance thermometers for heat meters.

Products of the plant showed themselves to be good ones for usage in different branches of industry and economy and also at objects of the Ministry of Defence and Navy (there is a recognition of the register), they can be adapt to any object and can substitute imported ones.

All developments carried out by the plant are made at the expense of the plant. Specialists of the plant constantly visit objects under operation for studying problems related to temperature measurements and for consulting on temperature measurements.

Having mastered the production of temperature sensors the plant has started the development and serial production of electronic secondary devices using up-to-date microprocessing equipment: transducers, meters and regulators of temperature, pyrometers and infra-red imagers.

The production of technical means of temperature measurements should ensure the availability of means for their calibration testing both in production and operation. The plant has started the development and serial production of metrologic equipment for installation in testing laboratory.

At the regular meeting of Temperature Commission of Gosstandard of Russia which was held in Omsk in October 2000 the plan for the period of 2001-2005 was approved regarding metrologic equipment supply for temperature measurement means which is based on products serially manufactured and developed by Omsk plant “Etalon”. Special attention this plan devotes to primary standard thermoelectric thermometers with new calibration specification (platinum-palladium); automated working station for testing resistance thermometers and thermocouples; thermostats and cryostats of different design and purpose, including temperature calibrators; devices and equipment for non-contact thermometry – pyrometers, infra-red imagers and means for their calibration testing – “models of perfectly black bodies”;devices for determination of thermoconductivity of materials and structures; secondary devices of different purpose on the basis of precision voltmeter which is on the stage of development and so on.

In order to equip primary standard measurement means with metrologic facilities it’s also planned to equip the plant with a high precision installation (working standard) on the basis of fixed temperature points.

Thus the plant has the possibility to carry out complete deliveries of temperature measurement and regulation means and also metrologic means supply to calibration testing laboratories of Gosstandard and metrologic services of enterprises.

All developed measurement means are subject to testing aimed at approving the type, they are introduced in the State Register of measurement means and the plant is granted the license for their production.

Standard termocouple Type S has become a prize-winner of the competition “100 best products”. At the 4^th International Exhibition of Military Equipment, Technology and Armaments held in June, 2001 the plant “Etalon” was granted a diploma for manufacture of products of a high engineering level. And at the International exhibition “Etalon-2001” held in August of 2001 in Moscow it was awarded with the Great Gold Medal “Guarantee of Quality and Safety” for the products – automated working station for the calibration testing of resistance thermometers and for the portable pyrometer PP-1 and blackbody.

The plant’s employees are sure that they are able to satisfy consumers’ demands in temperature sensors, secondary devices and metrologic equipment.
